Re your plan, it’s good as far as it goes but hasn’t been developed beyond a laundry list of “to do” items yet. It offers no real structure or mechanism for accomplishing any of the goals. For example, it’s vital we review what elected representatives actually do and should do. Are they the ones best suited to scale back govt? How will they do so?

Would a “citizen’s grand jury” (for lack of a better term) that existed to review legislators & make initial judgement on every law that has been passed since the Bill of Rights or some other cut-off point be better suited to the job? It could be a constantly changing group of qualified citizens from across the country that spends one month reviewing laws and presenting unconstitutional ones to elected reps to be repealed or modified so to be in compliance w/ the Constitution. Qualification would come through taking an exam that determined knowledge of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and the Federalist Papers & Founding Father’s thought. Only those interested would qualify but everyone would be encouraged to do so.

I read the Federalist Papers several years ago because I wanted to understand the particular ethos of being an American. Others have read them on their own, in small groups or in classes. There are and will continue to be many opportunities to learn so finding enough qualified Americans now shouldn’t be an issue. (Going forward, the federal govt’s involvement in education ought to be limited to requiring that every HS graduate be able to pass the “Citizen’s Grand Jury” exam.

That’s only one idea about the mechanisms we need to put into place to dismantle the behemoth our govt is now. There is so much to do and creating a structure or framework within which to do it is essential. One of the most essential first steps, as you indicate, is electing the right candidates. That process has begun because that is what everyone knows to do.

Another absolutely vital concern is preparing to respond to a Reichstag moment or other time when we cannot wait until Nov 2010 or 2012. (There are many, myself included, who believe we are at that moment now.) We must have plans to respond legally, peacefully but effectively. I think it’s vital that we have such plans for the preservation of what we are as a nation. Much about the disease our govt has become has been made public. More is available for those who search. When all is revealed, the citizens of this nation will be hard pressed to remain w/i the rule of law. But if we are to survive as a nation, we must be ruled by our laws even when we have reason to act otherwise. Legal, effective responses must be planned.

One idea is that we simply stop spending money. Another is that we stop going to work. In both instances, people could descend on DC & surround the Capitol. Several million Americans surrounding the Capitol could not be dismissed & would shut down the govt. Other possibilities exist. We need highly creative responses, responses they don’t expect One of the realities about our enemy is that they are not willing to sacrifice We must be like our Founding Fathers, willing to sacrifice our fortunes and our lives and above all, we must be creative.

Give some thought to what sort of role you might play. We need to get ourselves organized soon. Time is not on our side though, I firmly believe, God is. May God bless us all and amend our work.
